Management Information System (MIS) Department

Management Information System Department is the data centre of BMTC. All operational data is generated, consolidated and documented by this department. MIS Department consists of two sub departments: Statistical Department deals with reports and Systems Department deals with computerization activities.

Security and Vigilance (S & V) Department

The Security and Vigilance Department is under Director (SV&E), BMTC. The Security and Vigilance Department functions as the "Eyes and Ears" of the Corporation. Among other things, the main duty of this department is to provide physical security to property and life, ensuring proper departmental action against theft, fire, pilferage, misappropriation etc by employees and outsiders.

Mechanical Engineering Department

The Corporation is operating different makes of vehicles from 34 depots and 2 Central workshops.
Mechanical Engineering Department is the backbone of the Corporation.
Produces new vehicles for augmentation and vehicles for replacement of old oneÃ??Ã?Â¢??s.
BMTC has introduced State of the Art, world class, low floor and low entry with Kneeling mechanism, air conditioner Volvo buses for comfortable traveling.
In order to avoid pick pocketing, overcrowding at the door, as a measure of safety pneumatic doors are provided and the operation is controlled by the driver.
To enable the passengers to identify the routes easily buses are provided with LED (Light Emitting Diode) Display Destination Boards.
To combat vehicular air pollution, the vehicles are upgraded to Euro norm and from 01/04/2005 procuring only BS-III buses.
Every month all the BMTC buses are subjected to smoke check. The depots are provided with computerized emission testing machines. Emission norms ensured.
Preventive and periodical maintenance are being carried out as per the recommendation of the vehicle manufacturers and the schedule is as follows.
- Daily maintenance (Every day)
- Alternate day maintenance (Once in two days)
- Ten day maintenance (Once in 10 days)
- Docking-I, for every 20000 kms of operations.
- Docking-II, for every 40000 kms of operations.
- Docking-III, for every 60000 kms of operations.
- Docking-IV, for every 80000 kms of operations.
The Corporation has provided four Mobile Workshops, which attends the en-route breakdowns immediately after receiving the message.
